The 2014 Derby City Classic Marks 16th Year in 2014

Posted on by Alison Fischer

The biggest all-around pool extravaganza in the world, the Derby City Classic, is just around the corner. With tournament offerings including 9-ball, one pocket, 9-ball banks, 10-ball, and straight pool, there is practically something for everyone in the range of American pocket billiards.

Over the course of nine days (January 24-February 1), top players from around the world will convene to put in their bid for some of the world’s most prestigious titles in professional pool.

The 2014 DCC will be the sixth year the event will be held at the Horseshoe Casino in Elizabeth, Indiana, a short distance from the ‘Derby City’ of Louisville, Kentucky…and it will mark the 16th straight year for the Derby.

The multi-disciplinary tournament and action marathon was spearheaded by Greg Sullivan of Diamond Billiards in 1999, and was inspired by the legendary Johnston City, Illinois All-Around Tournament that took place in the 1960’s and early 1970’s. UntoldBilliardsHistory.com shares a great historical video on Johnston City here.

DCCtickets.com has all the details on how to enter, and how to get tickets to watch the action in person. For venue information, check out HarrahsTunica.com.
