On Saturday, December 3, The Tri-State Tour kicked off the month with their $1,250-added B/C/D 9-Ball tour stop at Gotham City Billiards in Brooklyn, NY. This event drew forty-four players to the Avenue U pool room, where four players faced off on Saturday evening in the winner’s bracket semifinals.
These final four match-ups featured a win by Billy Cheng over Kapriel Delimelkonoglu 7-5, while Carl Yusuf Khan defeated Vincent Morris 7-3. Cheng and Khan then faced off in the hot seat match, which was won by Carl Yusuf Khan at 7-4.
Meanwhile, after his earlier loss to Carl Yusuf Khan, Dave Shlemperis fought his way back through the one-loss side, winning six total matches including a hill-hill win over Gary Murgia in the quarterfinal at 7-6.
This win bumped Dave Shlemperis into the semifinal match against Billy Cheng, who played strong after his break after losing the hot seat match. Cheng went on to win the semi at 7-3 for another chance at Carl Yusuf Khan in the finals.
In that final match, Khan and Cheng kept the race close throughout, alternating racks until they tied at 6-6. At this point, Billy Cheng forged ahead to win the next two games before dropping the 9 ball on the break at 8-6 to win the match 9-6 and take the title.
Congratulations to Billy Cheng for his hard-fought win, along with runner-up Carl Yusuf Khan, and third & fourth place finishers Dave Shlemperis & Gary Murgia.
Tri-State Tour staff would like to thank Gotham City Billiards owners Kevin & Isabel Buckley for hosting the event and adding additional prize funds, as well as their great equipment and hospitality.
