Field List: World’s Top Women Pool Players to Compete Live on ESPN3 in 2013 Season Opener

In less than a week, the WPBA Tour will kick off their opening event of 2013 at the Soaring Eagle Casino in Mount Pleasant, Michigan. Along with world-class competition, there is also more excitement added to the event with the induction of “The Black Widow” Jeanette Lee into the WPBA Hall of Fame, which will take place on Wednesday, February 6.

The WPBA has released the official player list of the 48 players competing in the event, which will get underway on Thursday, February 7. The field will feature many of the top stars in the game, alongside emerging talents from around the country.

Among the top names competing in the field, fans will get to see international names such Allison Fisher, Jasmin Ouschan, Karen Corr, Ga-Young Kim, Jeanette Lee, and Monica Webb in action, along with many more.

Along with the tour’s top champions, there are many tour up-and-comers who are continually working to take their games to the next level. Players to watch for in this event include the WPBA’s Most Improved Player of 2012 Teruko Cuccelelli, the 2012 Rookie of the Year Jana Montour, and other standout players who have brought their game up in recent years, like California pro Eleanor Callado, former World Junior Champion Brittany Bryant of Ontario, Nicole Keeney of Colorado and New York’s Jennifer Barretta & Emily Duddy (2011 Rookie of the Year). Both Bryant and Barretta competed in the recent Turning Stone Classic, and like many of the tour’s players, also regularly compete in regional open events. Other Northeast players in the event include Erin McManus, Susan Williams, Borana Andoni, and Eugenia Gyftopoulos.

MT. PLEASANT, MI – The Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort will again host 48 of the best female billiard players in the world February 7-10, when the Women’s Professional Billiard Association WPBA Masters 9-Ball Championship launches the 2013 Women’s Pro Billiard Tour season, with LIVE coverage on ESPN3! Below is the field list of players who will compete. Each competitor in the WPBA Masters was required to qualify by top ranking or through WPBA recognized Regional Tour qualifiers.

Kicking off the event on Wednesday, February 6 is a WPBA Kids Clinic for tribal youth, followed by the induction (6 p.m.) of the famed “Black Widow” Jeanette Lee of Indianapolis into the WPBA Hall of Fame. Jeanette’s induction will precede a charity pro-am to benefit the Angel Tree Foundation.

Preliminary rounds begin Thursday, February 7, through Saturday, February 9 with 48 top players competing in two sessions each day in double elimination play. The tournament will conclude on Sunday, February 10 beginning at 1 p.m., when the final four players remaining will compete for the title of 2013 WPBA Masters Champion LIVE on ESPN3!

Alongside the WPBA Masters will be the Soaring Eagle Open V, featuring amateur singles 8-Ball and 9-Ball tournaments in men and women’s divisions, with 400 players! This event will begin on Thursday, and continue through Sunday. Visit www.soaringeagleopen.com for more info.
