At the June 22, 2013 edition of the Tri-State Tour, Jose Liz Domeneche would make a successful comeback after losing in the final four to win at Clifton Billiards in Clifton, NJ. This event was the final regular tour stop of the 2012-2013, and the season finale will be the Tri-State Invitational, set for July 6-7 at Castle Billiards in East Rutherford, NJ. In this $750-added event, which drew a strong field of forty-seven top Tri-State area amateurs, Domeneche defeated Mike Strassberg 6-2, Chris Lim 6-1, Jay Choi 6-4, and Lawrence Chandler 6-5, before falling to recent tour winner Kyle Bubet 6-4 in the final four of the winner’s side. The other final four match featured a win for Paul Spaanstra over Mike Zimmy (7-6). Paul would then go on to win the hot seat match next, with a scoreline of 7-5 over Kyle Bubet.
On the one-loss side, Jose Liz Domeneche would be regaining momentum after his loss to Bubet. He defeated recent Gotham winner Luis Jimenez 6-3, then moved on to win the quarterfinal against Mike Zimmy 7-5, and redeemed himself against Kyle Bubet 6-3 in the semi.
Domeneche then got his shot in the final against undefeated Paul Spaanstra. While Domeneche got out to an early lead in the match, Spaanstra fought back to tie it 6-6. However, the next three racks were won by Domeneche, who took the win at 9-6.
