January 13, 2012
The new year of 2012 is off to the running, and pool players throughout the New York tri-state area continue to stay on the grind both in tournament and league competition.
With The Predator Pro/Am Tour kicking off its 2012 season, The Mezz Tour Championship event, and a Tri-State Tour stop all going down, this weekend will be an action-packed one for NYC-area pool players.
The Predator’s opening event is set to be hosted at a new location for the tour, Steinway Billiards in Astoria, Queens, NY on Saturday, Jan. 14-Sunday, Jan. 15. The Amateur ABCD 9-Ball event will get underway at noon on Saturday, while the Open/Pro 10-Ball event will begin on Sunday at noon.
Steinway Billiards is also home to the William Finnegan’s recently-revived weekly tournaments, which also feature a Break and Run Jackpot contest. As a special offering at the Predator Tour opening event only, the Break and Run Jackpot is going to be open for B/C/D Class competitors in the tournament, and will be held on Saturday evening of the event. The Mezz Pro-Am Tour Championship will also be getting underway this Saturday, Jan. 14 and will run through Sunday, Jan. 15, at Drexeline Billiards in Drexel Hill, PA.
The tour’s 2011 season featured 22 tour stops throughout different locations in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, and the season championship will be a great opportunity for players and fans to see top-level competition.
Leading the season standings at the end of 2011 are Josh Brothers (1st), Matt Krah (2nd), Joey Testa (3rd), Eddie Abraham (4th), and Mike Wong (5th). For more info on the tour and the finale event, check out www.MezzTour.com.
