In his recent visit to Denver, Colorado for a political fundraiser, President Obama took some time out to hit a few balls with Colorado Governor, John Hickenlooper, at Wynkoop Brewing Company.
Wynkoop, which is one of the premier microbreweries in “The Mile-High City”, sports a set of 18 tables on its second floor to accompany its restaurant and bar, making for great spot for a night on the town.
Although NYC Grind was unable to reach the President for a comment on his trip to the brewery, we did catch up with Wynkoop general manager Amanda Young on the experience.
“It was pretty amazing. He came in with Governor Hickenlooper, and they played a couple of games of pool, both of which were won by President Obama. The President spoke with our brewer, Bess Dougherty, and our chef got to cook for him, which they was thrilled about,” said Young.
While there is unquestionable excitement surrounding a presidential visit, the Wynkoop staff had little time to prepare for the Commander in Chief to walk through the door.
“We didn’t know he was coming until about half hour before he arrived,” Young went on to say.
Just goes to show, you never know who may turn up at your local pool establishment. The Denver Post beer/brewery blog ‘First Drafts’ also shared highlights of the President and Governor’s visit to Wynkoop, check out the story at the link below.
