On Saturday, February 4th, no one was able to get past Vincent Morris in the Gotham City Billiards Tri-State Tour stop in Brooklyn, NY. Coming through the field of forty-one players in this $1,000-added event, Morris (who is the founder of NYC’s Megabucks Pool League) went undefeated to the hot seat, taking wins over Thahaddeus “Mo” Moses 6-2, Vincent Loretta 7-4, Rick Shellhouse 6-2, Andrew Cleary 6-3, Mel McCullen 6-3, and Dennis Kennedy 6-4 along the way.
The previous week’s Tri-State runner-up Randy Mackin was one of the players to highlight the one-loss side. Mackin had lost in one of the early rounds of the event, but through to the quarterfinal match, to then fall to Mel McCullen 7-4 and settle for fourth place. McCullen moved on to the semifinal match, where he took on hot seat match loser Dennis Kennedy… and came out the winner at 6-3.
The finals of this event featured a rematch between undefeated Vincent Morris and Mel McCullen, who had met up earlier in the winner’s side final four, where Morris won 6-3. In the final, a similar outcome resulted, with Vincent Morris winning again 6-3 to become the undefeated event champion!
Congrats to both Vincent Morris and Mel McCullen on their strong performances, along with 3rd and 4th place finishers Dennis Kennedy and Randy Mackin.
